Gaios is the main port of Paxos, the smallest of the seven main Ionian islands.

CORFU Kerkyra (CFU): Corfu has several daily flights from ATHENS (ATH), as well as from northern European countries, e.g. from Frankfurt (FRA). Optionally also from Madrid (MAD), but with Multistop.
For the transfer from CORFU airport to the charter base at Marina Gouvia, take a taxi, cost approx. 25 €/taxi, approx. 15 minutes.
€ Euro. Withdraw cash at many ATMs with a credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express). Tip: Withdraw a certain basic amount for your travel fund as soon as you arrive at the airport.
Corfu has a Mediterranean climate. Warm in summer, mild in winter. The best time to travel is from May to October, with temperatures between 25 and 31° Celsius. It hardly rains during this period. The sea is pleasantly warm, at about 22° Celsius.
The ideal time to sail is from May to October.
Unspoilt islands with lush vegetation, picturesque fishing villages, sandy beaches and crystal clear waters: the Ionian Islands, from Corfu in the north to Paxos, Levkas, Meganisi, Kephallinia, Ithaca to Zakynthos and the nearby Greek mainland coast, are ideal for family crews, even with children, from May to September.
There are many sheltered anchorages and small harbours everywhere at short intervals, marinas are scarce. A place to relax and unwind.
In terms of wind and weather, the Ionian is also an ideal area for beginners for a quiet sailing holiday. The sailing wind is determined by reliable thermals: In the late morning, the temperature differences between the rapidly warming land and the cooler sea increase. The sea wind grows to about 3-4 Bft. in the afternoon, rarely up to 5 Beaufort in midsummer. In summer it usually blows from the north-west. At night sometimes a light onshore wind of 1-2 Bft.
Numerous and very varied routes for yachts make the Ionian Sea particularly attractive.

Simple everywhere
The fantastically beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea have only a few large marinas. Overnight accommodation can be found in countless anchorages and in the small fishing harbours of the islands. There you moor with your stern to the quay in front of the bow anchor.
Families with children - Couples - Groups of friends
Not all sailing licences of non-EU citizens are recognised in Greece. Please send us a copy of your sailing licence with your charter application. We will check the validity with the charter base in advance.
We strongly recommend that you hire a local skipper for your planned charter. He speaks the local language and in any case also English. The skipper knows the local conditions, recommends suitable routes taking into account weather and wind forecasts. He knows the best marinas and books moorings for the night, helps with restaurant reservations, shopping and much more. For the skipper, always consider a separate cabin on board.

Across the Ionian Islands: Corfu - Levkas - Kephallinia - Paxos - Corfu
1 week:
Saturday afternoon, sailing to the harbour of the town of Sivota, near the island of Mourtos, about 23 miles, bow anchor with stern lines to the quay.
Sunday along the mainland coast southwards through the Levkas Channel to the port of Levkas, 42 nautical miles, anchor with stern lines to the quay, lively town with some good restaurants.
Monday continue through Levkas channel, swimming stop south of Skorpios island, continue to Fiscardo in Kephallinia, 23 nm, bow anchorage with stern lines to stern, nice little harbour
Tuesday north of Ithaca and Atokos to Kastos to the town harbour, 17 mn,
Wednesday we sail northwest towards Levkas, stop for a swim in one of the many beautiful bays of the island of Meganision, then Levkas again, 22 mn,
Thursday via Levkas channel to Gaios harbour in Paxos, approx. 33 mn, bow anchor with stern lines to the town quay, small lively harbour in beautiful surroundings, before that Caribbean feel swim stop ½ mn to the NE cape of Antipaxos,
Friday back to Marina Gouvia, before the swim stop at the picturesque bay of Laka just before the North Cape of Paxos, after refuelling to the mooring, approx. 30 mn.
Total approx. 190 nautical miles.
